Split Board Equipment
No frills, add-ons, or special features, the Spartan is a board born for a single purpose—getting your butt in the backcountry. It’s base is basic black. It’s topsheet looks like it was designed by a monk. It has our new channel puck system, but that’s as fancy as it gets. It’s tough and scrappy, with an easy flex, snappy radius, and enough taper at the tail for quick flicks in the trees, but not so much you can’t ride it switch. It has our legendary lightweight construction, but not a wiff of carbon. Because you don’t need it. This is the Spartan. True to its name and to our motto—simple, solid, backcountry. The Voile Speed Rail Binding retains the simplicity and durability that you expect, and then ups the ante. Those who are averse to fiddling with slider-pins can rest easy. Upward-facing, totally-bomber hooks create the fore ends of the slider track’s 7075-T6 aluminum rails. In touring mode, these hooks grip around a full-width solid axle, now featuring reinforced brass bushings for a more reliable free-pivot action while climbing. When you're ready to ride, simply slide everything across some Voilé pucks and clamp down the rear latch plate. It couldn’t be easier to transform your stance from tour mode into a perfect forward lean with the all-new Ride-N-Stride Highback. Tilting the Highback forward and pressing on the bottom half of the lean block secures it over the heel cup, locking it into the forward angle of your choosing. When you’re back on the skin track, simply pressing on the upper portion of the lean block allows you to sink the Highback for an additional <25° of movement. And in situations where a splitboarder needs better control and maneuverability of their individual board halves, the all-new Heel Lock slides in for the win. While traversing ridgelines, sidestepping, or when cruising rolling terrain to the next ascent, the Heel Lock does just what its name suggests. Expect the same 6061-T6 baseplate, easy puck access, fully-adjustable heel cup, and other bomber features of past bindings, but in a fully featured and more rider friendly package. Fresh tracks and undiscovered zones are just a split, glide, and tour away from home thanks to this splitboard. Because sometimes the best backcountry experiences come with mixed conditions and unexpected terrain, you need a board that rises to every challenge. The Family Tree Hometown Hero Splitboard works well just about anywhere you drop it. Its directional shape and taper keep it agile in powder, while the Split Channel mounting system makes for smooth transitions. From floating through open powder stashes to working through variable conditions, its versatility shines bright no matter where you wind up. ABOUT THE GRAPHIC: Once again, we worked with artist Ty Williams, this time on the graphics for the Family Tree lineup. Ty came by Burton HQ in Vermont and painted a sweet mural in our Craig's prototype facility, which our product teams pulled from to create this year's graphics. "I seem to work better in a big hurricane of ink and paint" – Ty Williams 3-YEAR WARRANTY - SNOWBOARDS All 2014 and newer Burton snowboards with The Channel mounting system (such as the one you are looking at here) are backed by a three-year warranty from date of purchase.
